GET THE RUNWAY LOOK

Tapping into the “vibe shift”, Bec + Bridge build on their legacy of crafting irreverent, authentic and unapologetically cool clothing for women who don’t take themselves too seriously. The beauty look, a grown-up’s take on ‘last night’s makeup’, and accessories styling tapped into the timeless punk attitude, and was crafted by our partners, Lara Srokowski at Lancome, Diane Gorgievski at Redken, Cindy Vellis at Manicare, and Mejuri jewellery. The end result was a look and attitude that brimmed with a palpable and irrepressible energy, the sense of being grabbed by the scruff of your neck and being lifted out of your seat.

TWENTY-ONE is a collection that plays with dualities. Grunge is contrasted with sleek minimalism; sensuality with austerity; obviousness with subtlety. We worked with our amazing partners to bring this to life through beauty, hair and jewellery.

BEAUTY BY LANCOME

Director: Lara Srokowski

With 15 years of experience in the world of beauty, Lara’s journey with Lancôme began in 2011. She’s traveled to Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Beijing, Korea and London representing Lancôme Australia and keeping up to date with the latest beauty trends globally.

Talk us through the beauty look for the BEC + BRIDGE show?

The beauty look embodied grunge meets glamour. We took inspiration from a classic 90’s smokey eye and put an edgy twist on it by adding gloss to the eye right before the models hit the runway. The skin was left natural and effortless combining Lancôme’s iconic Ultra Wear foundation and Advanced Genifique serum to create a second skin finish.

What are the key LANCOME products you are using to perfect this look?

The key products used to create the skin were Advanced Genifique, we used this to create a healthy glowing skin prior to foundation, mixing a small amount our Ultra Wear foundation for a natural glow. Right before the models hit the runway, we also added a small amount of Advanced Genifique on the higher points of the face to add a glass like glossy effect to the skin. For the eyes we started with a black kohl liner to craft the perfect shaped Smokey eye with the Hypnose Palette pressed on top to intensify the colour and potency of the Smokey eye. To intensify the eye, we added two coats of Hypnose mascara to the top and bottom lashes for 8 times more volume.

What were the key colours used in the beauty look?

The three colours chosen to compliment the collection were a cobalt blue, Khaki and a statement black. For the blue we used Hypnose palette in shade 16 Bleu Hypnotique, we used our Advanced Genifique Light Pearl eye serum to wet the eye shadow and create a more intense pigment creating more drama to the eyes. For the Khaki and black we used a combination of shades from the Hypnose Palette in 14 Smokey Chic.

Talk us through the jewellery look for the BEC + BRIDGE show?

When Bec + Bridge were seeking pieces to add grit and toughness to their looks, we knew our silver and titanium pieces would be the perfect addition to do so. Silver is a precious metal favoured by many creative designers, artisans and jewelry lovers for centuries because it has a cool, casual personality with a bit of an edge to it. Since it is malleable to work with, it can be shaped and crafted into unique designs that are modern yet timeless. We find that on the runway, silver really does stand out!
